Episode 21: Jack's story

In this powerful episode, Jack shares his honest journey through alcohol addiction and recovery.

Growing up surrounded by family members struggling with alcoholism, alcohol was always part of his environment in childhood. It wasn't until his late twenties that drinking became a coping mechanism. As work pressures, depression, and difficult periods in his life took hold, alcohol became his way of trying to numb those feelings. His first drink? A bottle of vodka.

Jack opens up about the impact alcohol had on his life, the challenges he faced, and the turning point that led him towards recovery.

He also talks about his lifelong ambition to help others and his time at college. During his studies, Jack's dedication and resilience were recognised when he received the prestigious Keith Fletcher Memorial Prize, an award celebrating Access to Higher Education students who have overcome adversity while demonstrating outstanding commitment and achievement. He turned his own experiences into a career supporting people facing addiction.

Today, Jack works as a Recovery Coordinator, Addiction and Recovery Practitioner, helping others rebuild their lives and proving that recovery is possible.

If you or someone you know has been affected by alcohol addiction, we hope Jack's story offers hope, understanding, and inspiration.
